About Us

The properties of Scenic Hideaways are owned and operated by the husband and wife team of Mike and Skippy Leibfried from Lancaster Wisconsin. Both are 1979 graduates of the University of Wisconsin - Madison. Mike's career began in San Francisco CA with a publicly traded real estate development / general contracting company, specializing in the development of golf course communities. After 12 years in California, Mike and Skippy returned to Wisconsin when Mike accepted a position with the Kohler Company as manager of the company's real estate development subsidiary. After time with the Kohler Company, Mike started his own custom home building business in Galena, Illinois, and for 10 years specialized in general contracting of high-end custom homes, primarily within The Galena Territory. During this time, The Galena Lake House and The Cottage on Lake Galena were developed. These properties were built because of a unique opportunity to purchase two absolute one-of-a-kind waterfront lots, within the heart of the resort. No other waterfront lots compare or exist within the Galena area, which greatly contributes to these properties being so special. We hope you have a chance to give them a try.

Along with Scenic Hideaways, Mike formed and owns another company, Leibfried LLC, which specializes in the development and patenting of innovative and proprietary products.
